Talked to Roy today. He called at around 6:00PM. He's in Erwin, Tn. Said he thought he would spend a few days there. Probably leave some time Sunday. He's still having some discomfort in his knees and he's going to give them a rest. I ask him about the storms that came through Louisville on Thursday evening. I figured that they got to him sometime Friday morning. He said he was in a good shelter and the corrigated steel roof worked really good.
Roy says that he's going to have to return home in a few weeks for his job. That's going to take him off the trail for about 3 weeks. He also has some Boy Scout duties that he will have to attend to before September. So far, the logistics have not been too bad when he has had to travel. The Smokey Mountain National Park is a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive from Louisville. As he get into Virginia and beyond, the travel times will be getting longer. It's looking like he is going to have to finish the trail sometime next year.
He's still having problems with the USB connection between his PDA and cellphone. He's just about given up on it. Said he was mailing an SD card home. I should get those updates soon and I'll post them to both the web pages and to this blog.
